I was smiling towards the sun that warmly caressed my face. The air was still chilly, but the scent of early spring promised yet another gorgeous day.
I love those early morning walks, when the world is soft, still and slowly waking up. In the distance, I could hear church bells ringing, and a farmer starting his tractor. The newborn leaves rustled gently in the breeze, as if whispering: “Wakey, wakey. It’s a new day!”
The forest is my happy place. I come here almost every day. Here, I feel deeply connected to Life. A tremendous sense of joy fills me as soon as I set foot in it.
This particular morning was no different. As I walked in my bubble of joy, a sparrow landed on a branch above me and began to sing. Grateful for the private concert, I stopped to look and listen. As I said “thank you,” a sudden thought flashed through my mind: What if the bird dropped one on me?
Then it all happened so fast—I had the thought, said “thank you,” and the little bugger actually released the contents of his tiny bird colon right onto my shoulder. Of course!
The universe has a brilliant sense of humour sometimes. I couldn’t help but appreciate the cosmic wink saying, “Be careful what you wish for!” It made me laugh out loud.
Maybe it was just coincidence, but to me, it was a reminder that our thoughts create our reality. And apparently, bird poo can be an invitation to become more aware of where our thoughts go.
Be careful what you wish for!
